After a seven year battle against her cancer, Carole bravely escaped its torture by passing into a state of peacefulness at St Luke's hospice on the 28th February 2016. A memorial service will be held at: St Katherine's Church at Rowsley, Derbyshire on Friday 18th March @ 11am. Dress is informal and any member of the congregation is more than welcome to verbally give their memories of this humble and much loved lady. Carole passed away in the early hours of Sunday morning to the sound of the dawn chorus. All the wonderful staff of St Luke's hospice had given Carole the opportunity to be true to her nature and die in uncomplicated peace. St Luke's had an amazing ability to afford Carole sanctuary in her hours of need and with that in mind any donation you are able to give towards Carole's target of £5,000 would be gratefully received.

Carole was a very gentle, kind hearted person and the love she had for her husband and friends was clearly evident in the many conversations that we had., I will remember Carole for her love of walking and her amazing memory for dates!

It's the fifth of November today and I wanted to remember your birthday and our wedding anniversary. It's also guy fawkes night when seventy years ago your beloved dad announced the birth of his little cracker. We all miss you so much! My love always xx

We never got chance to say goodbye. A true, loyal friend. You were like a sister to us. We shared a lot of memories with you. We miss you dearly and you will always have a special place in our hearts. Until we meet again. All our love. Julie and Vanessa xx

If I should go before the rest of you, Break not a flower, nor inscribe a stone. Nor, when I'm gone speak in a Sunday voice But be the usual selves that I have known, Weep if you must Parting is hell But life goes on So sing as well. Joyce Grenfell

To lose one's best friend is so very hard to bear and Carole was that friend. She was taken far too young, with so much more to live for. We first became friends 15 years ago and, since then, we have laughed and cried and shared magic and tragic moments together. Her kindness and loyalty were second to none and I last saw her on my birthday in January when, despite being very ill, she insisted on sharing her love of ballet with me as a final gesture of her friendship for me. I miss her so much and will never forget her. From Christine O'Sullivan

Poem: You Never Said Goodbye You never said I'm leaving You never said goodbye You were gone before I knew it And only God knew why A million times I needed you A million times I cried If love alone could have saved you You never would have died In life I loved you dearly In death I love you still In my heart you hold a place That no one could ever fill It broke my heart to lose you But you didn't go alone For part of me went with you The day God took you home Author Unknown
