Alan Taylor
1934 - 2021 | Sheffield
Alan Taylor, beloved husband of Pauline for 64 years and father of Nicholas. Alan was true gentleman, a happy, gregarious and popular chap. Although very modest, he was a meticulous and ingenious craftsman, who worked in specialist engineering and was also skilled in woodwork, building and stonemasonry. He was a proud gardener and also a sculptor. Perpetually youthful in looks, he remained both strong and agile, physically and mentally throughout his 87 years. As a young man he was a cyclist, gymnast and taught Physical Training. In later years he enjoyed hiking and with Nicholas he regularly went rock climbing and winter mountaineering. He died after a short and rapidly progressing illness, being cared for at home by his family with the help of the St Luke's community team.
