Cheryl was an avid cyclist, sailor and skier with a passion for building her community and the people around her. She was a truly inspirational lady who made a great difference, in all aspects of her life. She laughed, she screamed and she was loved by all. Cheryl's ability to make friends has always taken her to great places. She worked for Sheffield Children's Hospital Charity as a fundraiser where she accomplished many projects including: Walking the great wall of china with Michael Vaughan and the sponsored snowflakes on the side of the children's hospital. Cheryl spent many weekends exploring with her family and friends. Growing up in Gorton, she discovered her passion for sailing at Debdale Outdoor Centre; where her eldest son now teaches watersports. Cheryl's love for sailing led to finding her loving husband Angus aboard a yacht in Largs (Scotland), where she was an experienced skipper and at that time Angus just a novice sailor. Places that were close to Cheryl's heart were Sailing at Bala Lake and Mountain Biking at 7 stanes, where her family and many friends visit each year. In November Cheryl made her last visit to Elterwater despite being so unwell to celebrate her friends 60th birthday. Cheryl and family were extremely grateful for the care they received in their home and at the in-patient centre, where she sadly passed away. Cheryl would appreciate if you would make a donation to St Luke's, so they can continue to offer the most amazing care to patients and families.

I met Cheryl in the US in 1993 and have such vivid memories of working in the coffee shop and then travelling across America together. Although we somehow lost touch, the tributes I read reflect so clearly the funny, caring, energetic, Cheryl I knew all those years ago. I am sad today, but I will look back and know how lucky I was to know, even briefly, Cheryl. My thoughts are with her family and friends. xxx

Cheryl and I worked together in the Rivington Day Hospital, Adult Mental Health, Occupational Therapy Dept, Bolton General Hospital. We were both Technical Instructors - She was in the Art/Pottery studio and I was in the O.T. Assessment kitchen. It was lovely working with Cheryl and I will always have very fond memories of her.
