Val was my sister-in-law and I have fond memories of when Val and John lived at Hickmott Road and I used to go for tea when I was 16 and had my first spaghetti Bolognese!! Val was a lovely thoughtful person and made everyone feel important. She will be sorely missed by her family and her many friends x

Your Mum was such a warm, wonderful lady! So friendly, so welcoming and so open! Her hugs were so good! She was clever and witty and so wise! She always had the right words for any situation and gave the best advice! She had a great sense of humour and whenever we were together we always had a laugh!!l Val’s positive view of life and her ‘glass definitely full’ personality always ensured a good time and we had such fun together!! We took our responsibilities at SHU very seriously but always had fun too - they didn’t let us interview together too often because we were so noisy!! Can’t imagine what they meant!!!!! I have only known your mum for six years but it feels like we were forever friends!! I count myself fortunate to have been her friend and privileged to have been a colleague! I loved her to bits, admired her greatly and will miss her so very much but......... because of who she was, and how she was, I am going to try very hard to always remember her with a smile😀 Love to you all Pam x

Val and I met when our boys were babies and through sharing teaching tales at school meetings. Fellow scousers we gossiped regularly over the last 35 years about "home", our families and of course teaching. I will miss our chats, your sense of fun and your wise words about life. Thanks for all the good times Val. Much Love Jan xxxxxxx

Val and I had some things in common. Both born and educated in Liverpool, had birthdays close together and were lifelong Archers fans! We worked together at Pipworth and kept in touch via curry nights after Val joined the Maths team and then Hallam. Val was great company, a wonderful colleague and an exceptional person.
