David was a wonderful gentleman who was loved by many. For thirty years, he was married to his beautiful wife, Jayne. Together, they raised Sam and Harriet, their two incredible children. He was a loving father, husband and friend. His passion for planes, fishing and football made him an absolute joy to be around and everyone who had the privilege of meeting David will miss him dearly. David was, after all, a true “man of the people” and would always have time to listen, help and when needed, provide his honest (and sometimes controversial!) opinion.

After spending four weeks at St Luke’s Hospice, David sadly lost his fight to cancer and passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones. During his time at St Luke’s, David received outstanding care and compassion from all staff.

We would like to honour David by sharing precious memories and provide donations, however big or small, to support St Luke’s in his name and also in his wishes. As a family, we created valuable memories at St Luke’s and we spent happy times together despite his illness.

We hope that those who knew David will remember him and carry on his name though this tribute fund. The page will always remain open so that David’s family and friends can visit whenever they want.

Thank you for everyone’s love and support.

David is a former colleague of mine and later he was my personal banker. He arranged my mortgage and also with sorting out financial issues during a separation for which I was always grateful. I've only just discovered that he has died and to say I was stunned, shocked and upset is an understatement. I remember him as a great person to work with. He was fun, professional, a hard worker and just a super colleague. A Blade too, of course, but nobody can be perfect can they! Love and many condolences to Jayne, Sam and Harriet. xx

David received fantastic care whilst he was in St Luke’s Hospice. The team showed incredible compassion and helped our family through this difficult time. Here is the incredible amount of money raised at David’s funeral and we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated to St Luke’s Hospice. It was a wonderful day full of amazing memories!

I have many great memories of David, especially those from our schools days and nights out when we worked at Barclays. One of the nicest people I knew, it was an honour to call him my friend. Rest In Peace David, until we meet again, Jayne xx

David was such a happy cheerful person whose presence could light up a room. When he started work at Barclays I discovered that he had been in the same class as my sister Jayne at Rowlinson so I always felt we had a connection. I have some happy memories, particularly of Christmas parties at the bank and one in particular when we decided on a fancy dress theme! David turned up dressed as a woman and called himself Mary Millington! On his way home in a taxi he left his handbag behind for it never to be seen again! My heart goes out to Jayne, Sam, Harriet and their family and hope they can drawn strength from the love for him shown by so many people who turned up to show their last respects. Rest in peace David.

Deeply sorry for your loss.

    Thoughts

I worked with David at Barclays in Nottingham. I always remember him having a smile on his face and was always happy to help with anything, whether work or personal. I remember him calling me once at the branch to let me know that he was going to be slightly late for a meeting, he mentioned that he was only a couple of minutes away at the nearest car park. I said that wouldn't make him late as he was so close to the branch. He then said that he wasn't able to leave the car park as it was raining and he couldn't get his hair wet! Deepest condolences to Jayne, Sam & Harriet A true gentleman, taken much too soon. RIP Dave X

We've only just learned today that David has passed away. David was our financial adviser for about 15 years and in that time we became more like friends then professional/clients. He was a lovely man and very good at his job. My wife and I certainly benefited from his knowledge and experience. We kept in touch by email throughout the latter stages of his illness and he told me a few weeks ago that he only had a short time left but he was talking months rather than weeks. It is a real shock and a great loss. If David's funeral has not yet taken place could someone kindly let me have the funeral arrangements at john@jwmoran.com For St Luke's - FYI the donation page is not working. Each time I click donate it comes up with an error page.

Have known David since starting school in infants at Woodseats ( we were both 5) We were friends all through school (always in the same class) until we left Rowlinson. Even though we didn’t keep in touch, when we did bump into each other ( on many occasions over the years, at reunions, and in Morrisons!!!) it was like you only saw him yesterday. Totally shocked with this news, he has been taken from his family far too soon. A great guy who will be sorely missed (at least he saw Sheffield United get promoted) My thoughts are with Jayne and his family on this sad occasion. Gary.

My Dear Friend David We shared many a laugh, from being at school and having to both chaperone our Mat on a date. We had fab school reunions, casino nights and many lunches. You were lucky to have such a lovely family who I know will be devastated. I like many school pals who have all been so lucky to meet each other when we started Rowlinson together, will be devastated. It was a privilege to be your friend and I am gonna miss you so much. Sleep at Peace now Night Night xx

Happy memories of our dear friend David, our times together and our (sometimes heated) political discussions on Facebook!! Memories of meals out together and at home, David`s choices of wines (!!!), Jayne you know what I mean. David lives on in your two beautiful children who are an absolute credit to you both. Lots of love to you all, as always
