When we were given the awful news that my dad had a brain tumor and had limited time left we were left wondering how we would manage the months to come; juggling caring for him, our own emotions and also providing comfort each day. St Luke's made it possible for us to put the illness in the background and bring to the forefront the precious time to share old memories and create wonderful new memories as a family and with dear friends. We can never express how much we are indebted to every single member of St Luke's staff who made it possible to focus the final months of my dad's life on him and his happiness surrounding him with dignity, comfort and most importantly, laughter. I hope that donations from this page can provide the same warmth and care to others in our position.

I was a fellow maths student with Mike at Sheffield University many years ago. We were in the "gang" that played bridge in the Union bar at every opportunity and both stayed in Earnshaw hall of residence. Mike and I were the "sensible" ones in our group, both moving into the exciting world of accountancy after graduation. We lost touch for many years but latterly corresponded via e-mail, mainly about about cricket. I'm very sorry to hear of Mike's death and send my condolences to his family.

Mike and I worked together at Lyons Cakes for a long time, I still have some fond memories of him and would add that he was one of the kindest people I have ever worked with. We shared a love of Sheffield and he would always send me updates if anything was reported relating to Butler's Café (that my parents owned) after I relocated to Southampton over 20 years ago.

It's Fat Cat day today for PMM Old Boys. Mike would have been waiting outside the door at opening time, with Nobby and me, to get the first beers in, and to order our steak pies. He will be with us today in spirit, and we'll raise a glass to him.
